In my second semester at Saint Joseph's University, our assignment for a web analytics was to create a website and track the progress over a couple months. In a team of two, a teammate and I create a blog of my travels around the world called "Girl On Board". We had 3 different sessions where we presented the progress of the blog from Google Analytics.
Our beginning goal was just to increase the awareness of blog and increase visitors. We did this by posting about the blog on our social media accounts, telling our friends and family, and creating social media accounts for girl on board. Because of our efforts, we got 122 users to our site to the first session.
Our next session goals were to increase our social media following, increase session duration (how long the user stays on the website), and decrease bounce rate. To do this, we redesigned our website to make it easier for users to navigate, increased our blog posts weekly, and posted more on social media with popular hashtags. Our last session goals were to continue to decrease bounce rate, increase session duration, gain returning users, and have consistent users come to the blog. By accomplishing these goals, we continued to promote via social media, create new content, and add tags and outside links to the website.
Because of our overall efforts, we have gained 227 users, decreased our bounce rate, increased our returning users, increased social media following (300 Instagram followers) and kept consistent users coming to the website.
