CMA is a small student chapter of the American Marketing Association. For my first year I was the officer of social impact and for my second year I was promoted to President. These are a few events that we created to raise club awareness, teach students about marketing, and support the community:
Successful Events:
"Young Art Fair"
With a fellow officer, I created a charity event for the Children's Hospital "Free Care Fund", which supports families regardless of their financial situation. This event brings school and local artists together to raise money for the fund. We also added a CMA student bake sale and raffled baskets from community businesses. We even were able to have the kids from the hospital draw for our Chinese auction. Through two events, we raised $1000 and presented a check on the Free Care Fund telethon.
Networking and Etiquette Dinner
This was an event to give students an opportunity to network and learn about the etiquette of business dinners for their future careers. We invited local employers for the networking event and teamed up with Career Development from Chatham University. Students learned such things as: proper table manners, conversational topics, and how to turn a lunch interview into a positive experience.
Spa Night
This event was to promote health and wellness for the students on campus. We invited businesses such as Massage Envy, Doterra, and Una Biologics to sell products and help students relax before final exams.
Relay For Life
To support Cancer survivors and patients, CMA raised money with a game at the Relay for Life event. I even donated 8 inches of my hair at the event to give to a cancer patient.
Tours:
Penn Brewery Tour
We brought students to Penn Brewery to take a tour of one of the oldest Breweries in Pittsburgh in order to learn a few marketing tips from their expert Marketer.
Google Tour
We brought students to take a tour of the Google office in Pittsburgh. We were able to talk to the director of their "comparison shopping" product, learn the ins and outs of their office, and get inspired from their creativity.
